NFL Monday Nights - Redskins and Big Scores

NFL MONDAY NIGHTS
Washington and Big Scores

Tonight the Giants meet the Redskins in what has the potential to be a high-scoring contest.  Expect big plays on both sides in a meaningful game in the NFC East standings.

Washington is no stranger to high-scoring Monday Night contests.  The highest combined team score featured the Redskins and the Green Bay Packers.  In an October 1983 game the Packers edged the Redskins 48-47 when Washington kicker Mark Mosley missed a 39-yard field game as time ran out.  The two teams combined for over 1,000 yards of total offense.

In November 2010 the Redskins played in the game that holds the record for the most points scored by one team in a Monday Night contest.  Michael Vick and the Eagles blitzed the Redskins for 28 first quarter points before the Redskins had so much as a first down.  The Eagles led 45-14 at the half and cruised to a 59-28 victory.  Michael Vick threw four touchdowns and ran for another as the Eagles generated 597 yards of offense in the route.  Vick dramatically outplayed Washington QB Donovan McNabb whom he had supplanted as the starting QB in Philadelphia.
