NFL Monday Nights - History Favors Niners

NFL MONDAY NIGHTS
History Says Take the Niners

Since The NFL began playing on Monday nights certain teams have shined at night and others have had their lights turned out.  The San Francisco Forty-Niners and the Chicago Bears stand at opposite ends of the Monday Night experience.

The Niners will be making their 67th Monday Night appearance.  They have a 41-26 Monday night record.  The Niners rank third in the league with a 62.1 winning percentage on Monday Night.

The Bears will be playing on Monday Night for the 58th time.  The Bears have a 22-35 Monday Night record.  The Bears rank 28th in the league with a 38.5 winning percentage on Monday Night.

The NFL began playing Monday Night games in 1970, the first year in the post merger era.  During the post Merger era the Forty Niners have won 56.6% of their regular season games.  The Niners' superior winning rate on Monday Night is statistically significant (10% ) compared to their overall post merger winning rate.  The Bears have won 50.2% of their post merger games.  The Bears' inferior winning rate on Monday Nights is statistically significant (23%) compared to their overall post merger winning rate.

Monday Nights bring out the best in the Niners and the worst in the Bears.  Sure, every game is different.  The past does not predict the future.  But.... take the Niners.
